Our clinical practice is guided by the latest evidence based best practice and includes;

Manual Therapy: Hands-on treatment such as mobilisations (gentle movement) and manipulations (stronger movement) of stiff or painful joints.

Soft tissue therapy: massage, soft tissue release, trigger pointing for stiff and aching muscles to restore balance to the musculoskeletal system to relieve pain and improve overall physical activity.

IMS/ Dry Needling: minimally invasive technique where acupuncture needles are inserted into an area of increased muscle tension to relieve pain and tension and restore normal movement to the muscle. Needling is usually used in conjunction with other treatment techniques.  IMS – Patient Information.

Acupuncture: can be used in isolation or in conjunction with physiotherapy treatment for certain conditions or injuries, focusing on influencing “energy” in the body to restore the body’s equilibrium.

Pre and Post Operative Rehabilitation: Your physiotherapist will give you exercise to optimise your movement and strength pre surgery and will discuss post surgery precautions/ restrictions. The goal of post surgery rehabilitation is to return you to your prior level of physical function. The physiotherapist will closely monitor your progress.

Functional Rehabilitation: combination of treatment and exercise focusing on task specific activities to aid you to return to your specific everyday work or sports activities.

Exercise: involves muscle imbalance re-education for full recovery and to prevent further injuries. We have a well appointed rehabilitation gym at the clinic to facilitate your recovery.

Electrotherapy: When appropriate your physiotherapist may recommend some electrotherapy treatment such as Ultrasound, interferential and Muscle stimulation to compliment your treatment

Education and Advice: your physiotherapist will be able to educate you with regards to your condition or injury and give you advice on how to manage your symptoms as well as preventing further injury once your pain has settled

Pilates Rehabilitation: Focuses on good posture, muscle strength, flexibility with general fitness focusing on muscles in the abdomen, back and pelvic girdle region. This can be carried out on the Mat or on our Reformers. These are specialist pieces of equipment designed to challenge and facilitate a full recovery.

Taping: strapping tape and supportive taping are used to relieve pain, improve joint stability, enhance athlete confidence, reduce injury recurrence, and prevent injury.

Throughout your treatment we can liase with our Multidisciplinary team such as Podiatrists, Massage Therapists, Personal Trainers, Nutritional Therapists and Chiropodists to provide a holistic approach to your recovery.
